The DP15 power catamaran is an exceptional, wheelchair accessible catamaran designed for comfortable cruising. Desiderata had major works done in 2021/ 22, overseen by the original Project Manager. This included: Topsides, foredecks and sidedecks repainted; fresh Coppercoat antifouling; new and additional eco-teak exterior decking; and new Rolls Royce water jets.
GRP construction is robust but light; the advantages of a light boat include greater fuel efficiency, which equals greater range. The Vector Joystick controls make helming a delight whether at the saloon pilotage station or on the flybridge and manouverability couldn’t be easier.
Desiderata can be easily handled by a couple or a group of family or friends who love the exhilaration of being on the water. Her large tankage and efficient cruising will allow you to enjoy a larger cruising ground and give a greater choice of destinations, whether weekending or long-distance cruising.
The DP 15 features a horseshoe shaped flybridge with a second helm position, seating area, wet-bar with fridge and BBQ and a sun-lounging area. The external lift enables safe wheelchair access to the flybridge.
Ergonomics were high on the agenda during design and build. The flybridge helm seats can be easily retracted so a wheelchair can comfortably fit behind the console when needed. The saloon helm seats raise and lower with push button control for ease of transfer.
The clean interior styling is bright and airy with panoramic 180 degree forward views from the interior helm station. Sliding doors allow easy wheelchair access to the owner’s cabin, wet room and aft cockpit, all of which have also had close attention to ease of use and movement.
The wet room is immediately adjacent to the aft swim deck, opposite the owner’s cabin and at the rear of the saloon for easy access from all areas. The well kitted, spacious galley is designed to be sociable. Each hull has a double cabin and head with shower, accessible via steps.
The jet drives coupled with the hull forms were developed to offer economy and comfort of ride. The water jets also minimise risk of entanglements and benefits access to shallower drafts as opposed to exposed drives. The wet deck deflects the water travelling between the hulls and creates a water vapour damping to reduce slamming and helping to cushion the ride over waves.
There’s a small fold up ramp for quick and easy access to the pontoon. A long passarelle stored on the flybridge can be positioned with the crane to allow stern to mooring and wheelchair access in a variety of locations. This extends out to the pontoon and enables passengers to wheel onto the aft swim platform. The aft platform not only lifts to deck level but also extends fully into the water to maximise accessibility.
A systems panel by the saloon helm station provides a clear overview of all the onboard systems and their status.
Vacuum bagged composite E-glass multi-axial and unidirectional laminates with PVC foam core.
The covered aft cockpit is accessed via sliding glass doors from the saloon and via a passareille from shore. The hydraulic bathing platform extends aft and can double as a dingy store when underway. Safety lines secure the cockpit when underway, separating off the stern transoms. 2 x hatches in the cockpit sole give easy access to the large engine rooms and seperate stern hatches give access to the drives. A lift with ladder behind gives access to the flybridge. Seating is on top of self-draining lockers and the cockpit can be fully enclosed.
Enter the bridge deck saloon from the aft cockpit via a large sliding glass door. To port is the owner’s cabin, to starboard the wet room. As you progress to the interior of the boat the open plan saloon area opens up. The spacious and open galley on the right and dining area/ saloon table to the left mean everyone can be sociable even when underway.
The stylish interior is done in a cream upholstery seating with American Oak finishes offset by the pale and darker grey dash areas. A matching cream headlining softens the overall interior feel. Expansive storage built in throughout the boat allows you to carry personal items and stores for everyone on board. 6ft 2in headroom throughout.
Saloon & bridge deck
The Bridge deck salon is set out with a drop-leaf lifting table to port, helm, systems and navigation station are ahead and galley to starboard. Steps down to both hulls lead off either side of the saloon.
Helm station
Taking control of the boat is sheer pleasure using the Vector joystick and all your instruments clear to view and operate from wheelchair or using the seating. Wynn windscreen wipers can be individually controlled to maximise visibility.
In addition to the navigation equipment listed above, centrally placed is a large switchboard with breakers for all systems.
